Week of December 15, 2013: Merry Christmas to All...

Merry Christmas to all friends and families. We hope everyone has a chance to look back on the year and remember all the good times. We have ups and downs, but the times on the lake are some of the best. Whether you were catching a big one or just getting away for the day, take time to reflect on those great lake memories. Christmas is a gift to all of us and we have a lot to be thankful for, like this great country that we all live in.
Here's to a wonderful 2014!

Merry Christmas and Good Boating,

Week of November 10, 2013: Best Boating & Fishing

I recently read an article talking about the anticipation of the seasonal boater. What does this mean? If you live in a climate warm enough to boat year around, you cannot understand how depressing it is to see your boat sitting in storage all covered up and winterized without the possibility of using it until Spring! While being able to boat year round in the Southern climates is a definite benefit, most of those areas would most likely give up a couple of months a year to have the beautiful freshwater lakes available we sometimes take for granted.

You see, Kentucky and Tennessee have more lakes per capita than any other states in this region. We have thousands of miles of shoreline to enjoy as well as camping & picnicking with access by boat only. Sitting on the back of your boat with family and friends and watching the sunset is one of the greatest memories I have ever experienced.

We also enjoy some of the best fishing in the world. Many record bass, crappie, muskie and multiple other species are abundant in our lakes as well. Speaking of sunsets, how about the sun rising out of the fog while trolling your favorite bank fighting that small-mouth you know will be worthy of a wall mount. Keep those memories alive and get together with your boating friends over the holidays and talk about the great times you had this summer and the ones yet to come in 2014.

Looking for a gift for the holidays? We have a full stock of boating accessories available year round! Don’t know what to buy your favorite captain? How about a Stokley’s Marine Gift Card! We have them available in any amount you desire. Come and see us as well. We always enjoy seeing everyone in the Stokley’s Marine boating family no matter what the temperature is!

Week of October 20, 2013: Winterizing

Winterization at Stokley's Marine
Well, as much as I hate to see it, the weather forecast is predicting freezing temps.  This means that it's time to winterize your boat.  There are a few simple tasks to perform to keep your boat healthy during cold winter months so that it's ready for the next season of boating.  You will need to change both the motor oil and the lower unit oil.
No Damp Sold at Stokley's MarineYour boat will also need a dehumidifier, such as NO DAMP, to help prevent mold and mildew. You'll find this at our store for less than $10.00.

Also remember to make sure your boat is clean and dry before you cover it.
Call or visit Stokley's Marine for any/all of your boating needs.
Also, come see us Feb. 6 - 9, 2014 at the Lexington Boat Show, and remember, boating season will be back before you know it!

Week of October 6, 2013: Let's Go to the Lake!

Fall weather is great, and do we ever have a great next 2 weeks coming up! There is very little rain coming and highs in the 60's to 80's. Please don't miss the chance to get out and enjoy the gift that God has given us in the outdoors.
The leaves are changing, the Shad are schooling and the Bass are going to be biting. You need to invite someone in your life that would be amazed with the beautiful water ways of Kentucky. It is too nice to pass up this weather. Cold weather will be with us all too soon so make a plan to..... what is it I say?
Oh yes
"Let's Go to the Lake!"

Week of September 29, 2013: Last Tank

When you are thinking about your last outing for the year, think about your gas choice. Make the last tank of gas a tank of high test, 93 octane. Gas loses its octane when sitting over the winter and a tank of 93 will be lower by spring time. Make the last tank a good one.
We also have to worry about the ethanol in our gas these days. One ounce of Mercury Quickare for every 10 gallons of gas will protect your gas and fuel system.
